This page shows you how to use this website, step by step. Take your time.
Report a spot
Seen a place with lots of litter? Tell us like this:
- Go to the Report a spot form on the home page.
- Tap the map where the litter is. A pin appears.
No map? Just type the place in the Location, landmark or address box, like "Irvine Beach park". - If you like, pick the Type of spot, like Beach or Park.
- If you like, add a photo and a few words.
- Press Send report. That's it! We check it, then it shows on the map.
Use the site without the map
- Under the map there is a list of every spot. It says the same things as the map.
- In the report form, you can type a place name, or press Use my location.
Change text size and colours
- Press the Accessibility button at the top of the page.
- Pick a text size, like Large.
- Pick colours: Dark, Light or High contrast.
- There are more options too: easier fonts, spacing, a reading guide, bigger buttons and read aloud.
- Press Close settings. Your choices are saved for next time.
You can also zoom: hold Ctrl (or Cmd on a Mac) and press +. On a phone, pinch with two fingers.
Put the site on your phone
This puts an Ayrshire Cleans icon on your home screen, like an app.
iPhone (Safari)
- Open ayrshirecleans.co.uk in Safari.
- Tap the Share button (a square with an arrow).
- Tap Add to Home Screen, then Add.
Android (Chrome)
- Open ayrshirecleans.co.uk in Chrome.
- Tap the three dots at the top right.
- Tap Add to Home screen or Install app.
Deaf, hard of hearing and BSL
- You never need sound to use this site.
- Videos should have captions or a written transcript. If one doesn't yet, it says "Captions coming soon".
- There are no British Sign Language (BSL) videos yet. If a BSL version would help you, please email and ask.
- You can always contact us in writing. You never need to phone.
Getting to a clean-up
When a group clean-up is planned, we'll say what we know about getting there: if it's step-free, if there are toilets nearby, and if there's seating. If something isn't listed, we haven't checked it yet. Just ask.

Questions
Do I need an account?
No. Anyone can look at the map and report a spot.
Does it cost anything?
No. The website is free to use.
Will my email be shown on the site?
No. If you leave your email in a report, only Cieran sees it. It is never shown on the map.
I'm not sure exactly where the litter is. Can I still report it?
Yes. Type the nearest place you know, like a street, beach or park. That helps.
Why can't I see my report on the map?
Reports are checked first. That can take a few days.
I pressed something by mistake. How do I undo it?
In Accessibility settings, press Reset to default. To leave a page, press your browser's back button.
